The Beautiful Wonderous Plan Of God Began With Rebellion In Heaven
Psalm 82 shows that God has a heavenly family prior to creating his earthly family. Just like the fall of Eden, there was a rebellion within God's heavenly Council. 9
Before I present this piece of work, I must commend Dr. Michael Heiser for his brilliant work. Languages and other readings within the culture during any generation are totally relevant even if their not considered scriptural. Heiser helps to broaden the understanding of scripture in a way that most followers of Christ never think of. He will be forever remembered by this writer and I'm sure he can enrich many other lives whomever wishes to research his works. I also commend Pepe Fren for reminding us about the depth of Scripture and how his own work provides more clarity into God's Word and His plan for salvation.
In all of history there has never been a love story that can permeate our lives like the redemptive plan of God. It is not only brilliant but it is perfect beyond our tiny imaginations. What else would one expect from a Sovreign Holy Holy Holy God. Quite honestly we are fortunate that he even gave us another chance to become part of his family. In order for us to understand why he allows us to have a shot at redemption, we must first come to terms with the heavenly rebellion that took place prior to the creation of the earth and humanity itself. It is the lynch pin of His plan for us.
Most Christians aren't even aware of this rebellion let alone that God actually had a Council of beings that executed his orders. All kinds of misunderstandings emerge as we try to dissect the meaning of Psalm 82. For Dr. Michael Heiser, it literally rocked his world and changed forever the way he viewed scripture. It certainly spun my head around, but if we take some time to understand this Psalm along with the Book of Enoch, you'll be better educated and enriched as you watch scripture become more alive in your life.
In Psalm 82, God judges the Watchers for ruling unjustly and becoming false gods to the Gentiles. The Watchers are the rebellious angels who took human women that created a Giant race of Nephilm. As punishment, God promises to take away their immortality. See this short clip by Heiser here:
This first rebellion set things in motion for the rebellious to begin their failed mission of destroying God's creation. The Garden of Eden is the first prime target. As you will begin to see, The Book of Enoch talks about this rebellion and at the end of this piece will be an additional clip of Michael Heiser discussing the importance of this book.
The heavenly rebellion staged its best effort to destroy God's plan for his earthly family. But just like the hubris of humanity, the heavenlies also possessed the same pride and arrogance. Who in their right mind thinks they can subdue any of God's plan. How is a created being ever greater than their creator? Exact answer is never! Heavenly or earthly, it doesn't really matter. To think we can contend with a Sovreign, Holy Holy Holy, Omnipresent and Omniscient Creator is beyond any form of understanding. As alluded to above, listen to Michael Heiser discuss the importance of The Book of Enoch.
